Just to Let you Know About Feliway Experience

I had posted a question about Feliway a couple weeks ago as my 15 year old cat was peeing just wherever she was lying. I had taken her to the vet, and he ran $450 in tests -- finding nothing wrong. She was matted quite a bit because she is very hyper and runs whenever she sees me come with a comb or scissors. Finally, the vet shaved her down quite a bit and recommended Feliway spray in the areas where she lies. He felt that she was just stressed. He said the matts can cause stress, and the Feliway has a pheromone in it that helps to "mark" their area...kind of like the scent they leave when they brush their cheeks against something.

I purchased the Feliway spray and used it wherever she lies. I repeated the spraying everyday for a week or so. She immediately quit peeing outside the box. I can't know for sure that it was the Feliway or the shaving off the matts, but the problem is now gone.

I purchased a glove that goes over my hand and helps to groom her now if I pet her lightly when it is on. She is getting used to it, so I may soon switch to a comb and see how that goes. Anyway -- just to let you know, the Feliway was a good experience (a little pricey - about $17 a bottle, but worth it if it works). I have discontinued it now, and all is still fine.

They make a dog version of the spray also.

Yes, Croemer, that is what I thought it was! My other cat has those frequently.

Well I am happy to hear the kitty is well if maybe a bit uncomfortable for a bit. Hope you can handle it in the future so you do not require the vet.
