Just curious about the "Pancake" thread . . .

Could someone just sum up that thread for me. I realize it started about a cat having kittens, but there must be much more to it than that . . . . and I can't even begin to envision myself trying to get through that gigantic thread. Is it just a bunch of friends talking? I mean, did it morph into a long conversation about daily life? Those kittens have probably had kittens themselves by now!

(If it's none of my business, just say so.)
