Just checked all the phone numbers that we didn't answer

[ Edited ]

We must be an equal opportunity phone recipent. Tenn, Ny, Tn, Mi, ?, NJ, MO. I use to think the calls were accidents when someone put their phones in their pockets. But there can't be that many from so many places. No messages of course, just the random pain in the necks!

I know someone else mentioned the calls they've had too. In this day and age, and all that can be done, somehow this one got away. This should be easier to correct, you would think.

@qualitygal

I think they fake the Caller ID numbers and locations.

There are tons of threads about these junky calls.

Re: Just checked all the phone numbers that we didn't answer

During the election years/times, the boiler rooms run rampant.  We have a call block gizmo and it helps but can't prevent them all.

You would think by now, they would all learn folks don't want those calls and they don't do a darn bit of good.

FCC Dials Up AT&T, Apple, Google To Halt Robocalls

AT&T (T), Apple (AAPL) and Google-parent Alphabet (GOOGL) are among 30 major technology companies forming a "robocall strike force" to crack down on annoying telemarketing calls.

AT&T is leading the industry group. Verizon Communications (VZ), Microsoft (MSFT) and Comcast (CMCSA) also are among the group's members.

Tom Wheeler, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, has asked wireless and wireline phone companies to offer call-blocking services to customers at no cost.

The robocall strike force plans to report to the FCC by Oct. 19 on "concrete plans to accelerate the development and adoption of new tools and solutions," AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson said in a statement.

The group hopes to put in place Caller ID verification standards that would help block calls from spoofed phone numbers and to consider a "Do Not Originate" list that would block scam artists from impersonating specific phone numbers from governments, banks or others.

"This is going to require more than individual company initiatives and one-off blocking apps," Stephenson said, according to a Reuters report. "Robo-callers are a formidable adversary, notoriously hard to stop."

Thank you AT&T! Hope they are successful.

If they are able to block robo calls, wonder if you will have to buy new phones.

if "they" block calls

probably "they" will find a work around

If you have a cell phone you can download a free program called "HIYA".  It keeps a list of all your calls and allows you to block any number.  Works great on my android phone.

Re: Just checked all the phone numbers that we didn't answer

I don't download an app, I use use the "block number" for my phone.  Seems like I am getting fewer of these "all around the world" calls.  I also look up their number on goggle to see who they are.  Usually someone has some information on them.

As soon as I get one, I block it.  Takes a few seconds on my iPhone.  I do feel like I'm fighting a losing battle though.  There are more now due to election polling.
