Just When You Think You've Seen Everything

I was in the post office today waiting on line. There was this guy four places ahead of me with two boxes on the floor. I heard noises coming from one or both boxes, didn 't realize what it was. All of a sudden we hear ******-a-doodle-do! This guy in front of me says to the guy do you have a rooster in there, he says yes. That rooster was NOT HAPPY in that box, as the chicks weren't either. I had no idea you could send live birds through the mail. The woman in back of me was worried the rooster was going to bust out of that box!

Don’t know about adult animals but growing up on

a farm, we used to get our baby chicks through the mail.

Every spring. Once we’d get the call from the post office,

Dad would stop what he was doing & make a special

trip into town to get the chicks.

Today, I have different views on this...especially for adult animals.

Can’t imagine the stress upon these poor animals.

I don't know about the rooster but my dad use to deliver mail to the P O and he got baby chicks & ducklings.

In my opinion this is cruel and inhumane and shouldn't be allowed. I would think the animal advocates would be against this action and do something about it. What is wrong with people, are they devoid of compassion and feelings! I hope this practice stops and animal abuse be considered a crime, it is where I live.

@Jordan2 My DD sometimes gets her chicks by mail, but she has never sent for an adult bird.

Very cruel and heart breaking. Will never understand why many humans think animal cruelty is acceptable. Not just sending birds through the mail but pigs in gestation crates, taking milk from baby cows, killing lambs for a handbag, imprisoning moon bears for their bile, so many more. I am much happier since becoming a vegan person. I don’t have the right to destroy another life.
