Plaid Pants2... I'm assuming you are in California where I lived for forty years until I moved to Arizona ten years ago. I will never forget 1994 quake when I was living in Encino in the San Fernando Valley. I can attest to the reaction when suddenly the ground or the floors under your feet house start to shake...it is exactly as you stated. You freeze and keep hoping it will stop while you are saying, okay stop, enough. Horrible feeling, stay safe.

@Plaid Pants2, the Central Coastal Valleys have had a slew of earthquakes in the past week - 40, with seven over 3.0 and two over 4.0.
I find it weird that while I often felt even small quakes in LA when the epicenter was near, I haven't felt any of these at all, in a single level house in the country.
There is a spot not far from here where you can stand directly on the San Andreas fault. I couldn't resist, of course I did it. Not sure I'd do it this week again!

I am so afraid of earthquakes. Stay safe.

That's just a baby one though, not really anything to be scared about. I felt lots of those small ones growing up and it never phased us. My parents house is right by the epicenter of the '94 quake. Now that was a mess. I'd already moved to NO CA by then but I drove down to see how they were because I couldn't get through by phone.

More people are injured or killed in tornados or hurricanes in a year than earthquakes. They do seem more devastating in other parts of the world though. Stay safe.

3.5 is a baby. 4.5 and above, while they don't cause windows to break or walls to fall, aren't babies. To me, babies are the ones most people either don't feel or barely feel, as in did we or didn't we. Mid-sized are those everyone feels, even if they're not all that scary - the 5's to 6. Over 6 and you gotcha your RUH-ROWs.
Been through both Northridge and Sylmar.

Hi, since I've moved to Alaska I've felt five good shakers (that's what I call quakes) - 6-24-15 at 2:34p - 6.1 😳
- 1-24-16 at 1:30a - 7.1 😳
- 3-12-16 at 12:58p - 4.9
- 4-7-16 at 7:25p - 4.3
- 5-14-16 at 9:53p - 3.2
- couple of tiny shakers somewhere in between
I'm not from earthquake country, but have felt 3 in my lifetime before moving to AK. People here typically brush them off, especially if born and raised, or residents for many years. It leaves you feeling so vulnerable, unnerved and scared while it's happening and (for me) many days after. i keep my little Lee Sands carved iridescent glass angel close at all times👼
