I too thought it was my settings but couldn't figure out how to fix the problem. Yes. I think it lasted longer than a week.

Don't start it.
But what if they get flooded with complaints about shipping, billing, and lack of customer service?

@ciao_bella wrote:On July 29th I emailed the media relations at QVC regarding the forums not working properly. I got that email address off the QVC corporate site.
I just received a phone call about my email to them. She wanted to know what happened as my email was the first they had heard of any issue accessing the forum site. She asked me several questions including how many days the site was not working, which I told her 17 days. She sounded astounded when I told her 17 days. She asked me if any notice was posted regarding the issue or had we been told what the issue was or the reason it was not working. I told her no to all.
She said she was glad it was fixed but they will be 'looking into it' (whatever that means.)
Just curious, did anyone else who might have contacted them get a phone call or reply?
I've been in IT at various levels of expertise (as a programmer analyst, systems analyst and technical specialist) for over 45 years. If someone were to come to me and tell me that the 'forums were not working properly', I would not have a clue as to what that meant. I would need more specific information to fix whatever problem(s) may have existed.
Also, I haven't noticed the forums 'not working properly' recently. I'm on them daily. I hope this is not a reason for QVC to get rid of the boards.
@KatieB and that's where the problem lies. Most people do not realize that because you are in IT you qualify for everything. Certain people do certain things. Everybody in IT has a certain job to do.
It's like building a house. The electrician does his bit, the plumber does his bit and so on and so on.
I am happy that it's working for everyone because I didn't like that some Posters were having problems.
I believe the Boards would stay up unless Posters start emailing and complaining and they shut everything down.
Lets enjoy it as long as it stays up.
@Sage04 I'm glad you and some others were not affected by the issue with the board, so perhaps that's why you feel it was unnecessary that some of us complained and/or emailed about it not working. Perhaps if you had been affected for days and or weeks, you might have felt differently about contacting someone about the situation. It's not like this type of situation happens often, so one should not fear that pointing out a one time IT problem that affected many people, would result in QVC shutting down the boards. If QVC wants to shut these boards down, it won't be because of one isolated incident.

I don't believe they did not know, believe the op,but not the person that called.

@SurferWife Ah you do know! It's the people who make the machines run who have to be out there testing at off hours. What a deal!

My opinion
@Johnnyeager I do believe it. But I have no idea what you are referring to.
@Sooner so why did you respond? That's funny lol. Guess you just didn't want to be left out.
I always love reading your Posts.

The only problem I have had with the forums is that some days I spend time here than I think I should. Not expecting a call.
Same with deliveries - Just got my most recent order yesterday in the same time frame as at least the last ten years and the sale item I ordered (an SG top) came through brand new in perfect condition.
Maybe someone in the tech unit will figure out why there are so many random problems. That would work for all of us.

What kind of systems were you working on in IT in 1977?

She probably worked on a mainframe system, which has been around since the 30's. In the 70's IBM and Apple started coming out with their own OS.
Was curious. A good friend of mine had some type of IBM computer in the 1970's. He was/is an electronic/electrical engineer, and what he was showing me back then? It was waaaaay above my head.
Even though I was into simpler electronics, like audio conversations and such, I had no idea what the he!! he was trying to show me. Had I been interested enough I might have been able to learn a little bit more, but my mind wasn't on the same level as his.
Thank you for the info,

@Kachina624 wrote:@ciao_bella Isn't it amazing how loud and long people complain here but how few will go to those who can do something about their complaints? I suppose they must be intimidated or have an attack of shyness.
Thanks for taking the bull by the horns. You should have suggested they occasionally take a peek at the boards. They might be surprised at what they learn.
Not intimidated nor is there any attack of shyness. Perhaps it's a matter of not knowing where or how to pursue related matters. Kudos to @ciao_bella for coming up with contact information, but many probably assess that someone in the rather significant Qurate hierarchy is monitoring online operations while others are probably of the opinion that the moderators, who clearly know when site glitches occur, advise both IT and those higher up the chain of command. Now that we know differently, perhaps others will 'take the bull by the horns'...

@ciao_bella what I was talking about was the posting of the media relations email address. Yes, getting too many complaints and taking a while to fix the problem could cause the Boards to shut down. There are a kot of problems here.
As for me, even if I was having problems I would not complain. Last year it did not bother me when the Boards were down. I'm not one to complain. I'm glad they are back up and I was very concerned about the Posters that were having problems. Some found a way to Post and I was happy about that.
