Our DIL was excused because she had small children at home. Our neighbor was excused because she took care of her husband who suffers from dementia.

 

The courts are fairly lenient when it comes to jury duty.

You will have the opportunity to speak with the judge. They are extremely realistic, recognize the jury duty absconders, and also recognize the human condition and the legitimate hardship. You may be obliged to show up, but if your sstory is legit ... they will recognize that.
