Juno insertion into Jupiter's orbit- no one watched?

Really? No one is a science/astronomy/physics nerd like myself and watched NASA tv as Juno inserted into Jupiter's orbit after a 5 year flight? It was exciting, nerve wracking and fascinating and really was a tribute to our amazing country on its' Independence day! It is amazing what brilliant minds can do.

There was a thread started earlier today but only a couple of responses.

@Marp yeah someone just now let me know. I didn't see it earlier.

Geez, I can't believe more people aren't interested/fascinated by this. Perhaps so many don't know how amazingly difficult it is to do something like this, or they just simply don't care, lol.

Can we compromise and make it one of the last frontiers?  There is so much about the ocean we need to learn and is a frontier we've barely touched upon.

yes, I completely agree about the Ocean. In fact, we probably know more about our solar system than we do about our own Ocean. I just say the last frontier because space may virtually be unconquerable since it appears it may be infinite. Smiley Happy

ETA: @Marp it actually really bothers me that we don't seem to make much advances in learning about and exploring our ocean like we do for Space. It seems with the state of things (without becoming too specific to as not get the thread poofed), we'd want to understand our Oceans better and it would become a priority.

I posted first.  Already ahead of you.  Our frontiers in the USA/world are ever expanding.

One of the last frontiers is researching the brain. One neurosurgeon I know says what we know about the brain is not even the tip of the ice berg, but we are scratching the tip!

But back to the topic, this is a brilliant coup for scientists, similar to us communicating with the probe/ship that went around Pluto before leaving our solar system.

Kudos to the team who accomplished this.

I'm very interested in space exploration, truly the last frontier.  The more we learn, the more we realize how little we know.  It's so so much for my teeny little brain to absorb. This is a good use of my tax dollars rather than some of the ways they are wasted.  Bravo NASA.
