Julie Andrews seems to have a great sense of humor.  Here is a song a lot of us can understand.

To commemorate her birthday , actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favorite Things'  from the legendary movie 'Sound Of Music'.   Here are the lyrics she used:

(Sing It!) If you sing it, it's especially hysterical!!! Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting, Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,  Bundles of magazines tied up in string,  These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,  Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,  Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,  These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,  When the knees go bad,  I simply remember my favorite things,  And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,  No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,  Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,

These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',  Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',    And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,  When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,  When the eyes grow dim,  Then I remember the great life I've had,  And then I don't feel so bad.

I really did enjoy this.  I have a loved one with a very-soon-to-be advanced birthday, so I planned to Email her this that morning.  I Googled for more information, hoping maybe to find a YouTube of Julie Andrews actually singing this.  Sadly, I found this instead.

I am still planning to send the lyrics, but won't accredit them to Miss Andrews.

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.

You do know that this never happened, right?

You do know that Ms. Andrews never actually sang this, right?

You do know that Ms. Andrews is physically incapable of singing, right?

She cannot sing.

Her voice is gone.

Her vocal cords are destroyed.

So, while it's a cute little story, that's all it is.

A story.

A yarn.

A tall tale.

Absolutely, positively 100% false.

Fiction.

Made up.

Not real.

Fantasy.

It would be nice if it were true, but it isn't.

Poor Julie, to have lost her singing voice (which I had known, but had forgotten). She is a lady with class. I was lucky enough to have seen her in person one day as I was leaving work. Beautifully coiffed and turned out, and personable.

This is just too brilliant, no kidding.  Record it, and I'll buy. Lol. I found myself singing to the lyric!  Thanks, made my evening,

julie andrews did lose her voice after surgery some time ago.  from what i know she is singing again.  maybe not as she did before, but she does sing.

it's very possible that she did sing this song.  it certainly sounds like something she would do.  of course it's totally possible that she did not sing this.

thank you for posting!  it's very amusing.

A 96 year old neighbor of mine did send me this in an e-mail.  I am glad some of you did enjoy it as much as I did and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

@Plaid Pants2  I did not know any of the points you made.  I really do not follow any entertainers and did not even know July Andrews was still with us.  Thanks for pointing out my ignorance.  Have a good day.
