I'm so happy Len will be back!
I didn't really care for Julianne as a judge. She went on and on and on...

There is nothing wrong with that and she took advantage of opportunities. She was better as a judge than Maks. BTW, she did a great job in Grease although Vanessa Hudgens stole the show.

I do wish people would provide some documentation when they post threads like this. For one thing, it sounds like she might be back as a judge. Maybe she's taking this season off because she has her wedding to plan.
She should never have been allowed to be a judge in the first place with her brother as a contestant. Huge conflict of interest.
She loved to hear herself talk. They couldn't shut her up and sometimes ran out of time for all the judges to speak. Esp. when there were four judges which was too many.
They must have offered Len a boatload of money to come back. As he said, he was getting on in years and the trip overseas to do the USA show and the British one was taking its toll on him. And he really doesn't need the money in all probability. I can't imagine what ABC had to give him to come back this season.
But I'm so happy! Julianne added nothing to the show except to make it longer with often "fluff" as comments. And no, she didn't deserve to be in the head judge's seat at ll.

I haven't watched the program in two years. I am not sure the dancers are judged on their merits... Became a popularity contest. And seemed the audience was unkind to the judges. And when Len left.... only one who I respected. (I do dance and I know what the criticism should be based on and he was right on)

Wow...I didn't know she was the head judge. That's all the more reason to say what I said last season.....her being a judge period, was a conflict of interest. I'm not saying she would knowingly judge her brother more positively than she would someone else but how could anyone know for sure? Ho would SHE know for sure? I think her brother is the best dancer and choreographer there but he's not perfect.

I am glad that Len is coming back. He is great as a "judge". I say "judge" because it's an entertainment show & I know they consider a lot of things when they give their scores & it's not always based on the same criteria they would use if it was truly a dance competition. I don't mind. It's a fun, entertaining show & I am strangely attached to it. LOL I like Julianne. I don't love her as a judge. I don't know why. She makes good comments. I don't have any problems with her judging Derek or Mark. I would love for her to dance, again, on the show. She is so good. Whatever. I will watch the show as long as they keep putting it on. I love the dancing. I love the costumes. I love the makeup. I love the band. It's just fun.

So glad to hear she is no longer a judge. Every time she said something I grabbed the remote and hit mute. She probably said some very good constructive comments, for which I will never know, but for me she sounded like she was screaming/shreaking. The pitch of her voice irritated me.
Absolutely love her as a dancer!

I apologize. I'll try to be more careful in the future. (I actually read three articles about this- People, E-online, and Just Jared.) But where do you get the idea she might be back as a JUDGE?
From the article:
"Julianne will always be a part of the Dancing with the Stars family and we hope to see her back in the ballroom in the future," producer Rob Wade tells PEOPLE.
And it sounds like the feeling is mutual.
"I promise it's not the last you'll see of me in the ballroom," says Hough.
I think she'll be back as a dancer, but I think the producers knew what the majority of the viewers thought - IMHO!

@beach-mom "Back in the ballroom" can mean either dancer or judge, or even singing as the guest singer. "As a judge" is one of the options and would be my guess. She seemed to really like being a judge (as much as I disliked having her as one).
And posting any one of the several sources you read would do. When someone makes a statement like in your first post, I always wonder where they are getting it from?

I like Len too. He was honest and gave good critiques. My father was a professional dancer, so I respect Len and his knowledge since he's been dancing for years.
Julianne is a fabulous dancer. I found she liked the attention and wore some dresses that were a bit too revealing for her judging duties. I'm not a prude, but I also find Jennifer Lopez does the same thing on American Idol. The attention gets focused on her and what she looks like, so social media will talk about them the next day not the contestants who worked hard to perform.
