Joy Reid started off her show this morning apologizing for comments she made in her past on a blog she used to write. They are homophobic in nature, she claims she was hacked and these new comments are not attributed to her. I like her and believe her. These original comments are at least ten years old and don't reflect her feelings today. I feel people can evolve, how they felt at some time in their past doesn't reflect how they feel today. I think most people deserve a second chance ( unless you are a murderer or rapist and even then if you have done your time and have been redeemed, maybe they deserve another chance too). I hope this blows over for her, I really enjoy her show.

Don't know the back story on Joy Reid, but most people deserve a second chance if they are sincere in their apology.
Of course, NO second chance for those who abuse children or animals. Have zero tolerance for those individuals.
If she made inappropriate comments, and she apologies, then good for her, most people have said or written things that they regret years later. Words can hurt people, and people can change their attitudes. No one is perfect.
Adding to original post:
However, if she lies about being hacked instead of just apologizing, that is ridiculous. Own up to your past mistakes and learn from them. Otherwise you are just making the whole situation worse for yourself.

I've never even heard of Joy Reid until this hoopla. She lied blaming someone hacked into her account. And now she's apologizing? So whats the truth? This, too, will just be swept under the rug. ![]()

I'll accept her apology as well as her explanations. Too bad I don't think many in the public eye deserve the same. I'd like the times I'm living in if I did.

I totally agree. Joy is a positive voice and brilliant to boot!

It's like Maya said "When we know better we do better.". Thank you Joy.

It was a heartfelt and sincere apology. She said she believed the words were not hers and had the posts investigated. When no evidence of hacking was found, she took ownership of the words..
People grow and change. It takes courage to admit you were wrong. I did like her and still do. She's a human being and part of being human is making terrible mistakes. An upstanding person acknowledges those mistakes and learns by them.

This is the first I'm learning of Ms. Reid also. What actions should be undertaken by the management of the network airing her program? Future ratings will be a good indicator of how her message was received by the viewers.
