  Why can’t men behave themselves? Years ago when I was climbing the corporate later I too experienced & witnessed  sexual harassment.I was never touched but the verbal was humiliating & embarrassing!!

  I had a very loving & supportive husband who guided me through it.

 One particular manager was caught on tape by a coworker.She took a copy of the recording to the head of Human Resources.Every disgusting thing this guy said to her was played back.They had no choice but to fire the guy.They settled with the employee. She was in her mid 50’s & was able to retire with a full pension,medical for life & a hefty lump sum!!

  I could go on & on in great detail with how many creepy employers I’ve had.My point is my generation was the first to have woman enter the workforce in full throttle. We dealt with this ****** so those who came after us wouldn’t have to!! This shouldn’t be happening today!!

Thanks for letting me know @Silver Fox1since I do not watch any on either side of the street so to speak anymore.  I just read the print copy the other just makes me get mad.  I refuse to start my day off with any of them anymore.  As for the posts about the "boys" ect..  it just may come out there were Women who abused their own positions as well, not just the boys.

I wonder how many people went along with these guys?  I mean it must have worked out for them some of the time. . . doesn't that give you the creeps too?  

And yes, what about the ones who benefitted from it and in that sense allowed it to go on. . . I mean look how long these guys got away with it.  Shocking isn't it?

I know I am going to get myself in trouble for this but I am so over this.  It almost feels as if it is high season for anyone not of the female gender these days. 

I am honestly really worried about my nephew and anyone else's son or husband or brother that is going to get falsely accused or placed in an unfriendly environment because it's the trendy thing for girls to do these days. 

And for the record, yes I think actual sexual harrassment is reprehensible.  The case referenced in this thread is absolutely legit and the journalist has admitted wrongdoing.  Nail him to the wall. 

I only hope going forward that girls deal with it at the time it happens not decades later when it becomes fashionable and attention getting and almost impossible for the man to clear his name.

I don't worry about these bigwigs but I do worry about regular people who don't have the financial resources to fall back on when an employer gets skittish and fires them. And, in this zealous environment, it's going to happen, probably to someone you know.

I just hope there is some serious vetting going on with these accusations and consequences for the disingenuous ones.

Well I think I would advise them to keep their mouths shut, their hands to themselves and their pants zipped and they shouldn't get themselves in any trouble.

@Sooner.  I agree. Especially with the Hollywood crowd. Casting couch has been around since the beginning of films. Crawford and Davis had to submit and I'm sure most others if they wanted a career. Either that or be blackballed. Still the same today with that crowd. Even I was aware of the HW rumors years ago.

Seems like it is in many different workplaces.

I'm thinking back over my own career and I lost count of the times men made suggestive comments.  But, because it was the behavior of the day, there was a tendency to "let it go." 

It was never physical, but bad enough to make me very uncomfortable.  I was young, and just said no.

Finally, there was a man who was verbally abusive.  One day he would be nice and the next he would stalk my "cubicle" and yell at me for perceived shortcomings.  He called me at home when I was sick and demanded to know why I wasn't at work.

He was a political appointee and powerful.  However, I finally had enough and went to the head of HR in my agency.  Thankfully, I knew him well enough for him to know I was not a crackpot.

I explained what happened and said if they didn't contain/control him, I was taking legal action.

Lucky for me, the abuser had fallen out of favor with the head of the agency (also political and a woman).

She fired him.
