CNN's special presentation, "The Sixties" was shown last night. It marked the beginning of the TV age (although I thought the Fifties did that). It was good and brought back a lot of memories, as I got married and had babies during the sixties. I just wish they would have focused less on the TV shows and more on the social changes that occurred during that decade. The show should have been two hours. They missed a lot of important events.

I was going to ask if anyone else watched that last night. I liked it so much I watched it back-to-back{#emotions_dlg.laugh} It may have seemed like they focused more on the tv shows, but think about that. Some of those shows did reflect on the social issues of the day. The Smothers Brothers show got cancelled because of the topics they raised. The sponsors tried to stop Petula Clark's show from airing the episode when she was holding Harry Belafonte's arm. Laugh-In was irreverent towards "The Establishment" with their shows. Cavett often had controversial guests, like Jimi Hendrix whose unusual rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner got many citizens up in arms about because they interpreted it as disrepectful. He also had Cassius Clay (Mohammed Ali) on his show, a person who refused to be drafted into the Army.

This is a 10-part series, so I'm really looking forward to the next 9 episodes.
