Will his remarks change whether or not you want to read his books? For me I don't think I want to read anything else by him.

He's upset because his friend received 3 years for clicking on a website that was clearly labeled 16 year old wannabe h**kers??? By saying that they looked 30???

Justify it all you want, John. The label said it all.

As far as his other comments, he can backpedal all he wants. It's out there in all its disgusting glory.

I saw that today also and was pretty disgusted by it.

Seems hard to believe someone would get 3 years for clicking on a website like that. More to the story no doubt.

Has to be more to the story. Years ago the internet was a wild place with pop-ups and crazy bad sites. I remember years ago our son was doing a report on the White House, he typed whitehouse.com instead of .gov and a p0rn site popped up.

This guy must have done more than look at a website.

He said that there were men in prison his age that clicked once on a child pxrn site and were in jail for 10 years which he felt was too long and he defended his position by using the excuse of being drunk. He was talking about jails being overcrowded I don't know what made him pick that for an example of overcrowding He has apologized

I think he has the right to say it but I felt in the interview he came across as a slimeball at least to me he did

Grisham's direct quote:

"We have prisons now filled with guys my age. Sixty-year-old white men in prison who've never harmed anybody, would never touch a child. But they got online one night, started surfing around, probably had too much to drink or whatever, and pushed the wrong buttons, went too far, and got into child p^rn, whatever.

It happened to a friend of mine from law school. They haven't hurt anybody, ok? They deserve some type of punishment, whatever. But ten years in prison? And there's so many of them no, so many s^x offenders, that they put them in the same prison, like they're a bunch of perverts or something. Thousands of them. We've gone nuts with this incarceration.

I have no sympathy for real pedophiles. God, please lock those people up. But so many of these guys do not deserve harsh prison sentences, and that's what they're getting.

A friend of mine, this was ten years ago, was drinking. His drinking was out of control. And he went to a website—it was labeled, 16-year-old, you know, wannabe hookers, or something, some stupid website. And it said, 16-year-old girls. So he went there. Downloaded some stuff. It was 16-year-old girls who looked 30. You know, they were all dressed up and whatever, and he was whatever. He shouldn't have done it, it was stupid. But it wasn't 10-year-old boys and he didn't touch anything. And golly, a week later there was a knock on the door. FBI. And it was a sting set up by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to catch people—s^x offenders. And he went to prison for three years."

Years ago I was looking up something that had to do with Disneyland. Got a site I was not looking for. Backed out so fast.
