Godspeed John Glenn - he had a long exciting life - not many people can say they've had an "out of this world" experience.

Now that I think about it, this is the second time he has slipped the surly bonds of earth...surely the only journey that could transcend the first one.  Semper Fi, Sir.

He returned to space in the Shuttle Discovery in 1998 at the age of 77. He holds the record for the oldest person in space.

My idea of a hero, and his wife and family seemed so supportive of him.  A good man, and a good life.
