An American hero, 1st US astronaut to orbit Earth who later spent 24 years representing Ohio in the Senate, has died at 95.

I must say, he was a hero for me.  As a child I watched the sky when he was up in orbit, imagining I'd catch sight of the capsule. 

John Glenn, I salute you.

They said he was hospitalized yesterday at a cancer center. My first thought was he was near the end.

Bless his heart, he was 95. Good long life. RIP John Glenn.

And another chapter closes. I just watched him yesterday on a Frazier show. He seemed like a very fine man. Gee 95! He had a long life. He was one of a kind. Regrets to his family, I'm sure they'll miss him.

As a child of the 60's I grew up in awe of him.  He was a wonderful man.

I had the pleasure of spending several weeks at his alma mater Muskingum U in Ohio.... I was a fan of his.   RIP John.

I didn't know he was 95.   I saw that he was very ill though.
