I lost my mom to cancer in 1995. She came home under hospice. At that time, there weren't the levels of hospice care that there are now. When we decided to put her under hospice, we were no longer in contact with a doctor at all. Everything went through the hospice nurse and the nurse is the one who came out to see her and the one who showed up when we called to say she had passed.
The day my mom passed, we were told by the hospice nurse when she came that morning, that my mom more than likely would not make it through the day. She said my mom had the "death rattle." My mom died late that night.
I have not been following this story at all because it's just too depressing and heart breaking and I'm so depressed at the number of people both in my real life and public figures being diagnosed with cancer.

I only became aware of her journey from posters here. It is so sad but I do believe God gave her the strength to make it to Christmas and then her baby's birthday. She and her husband seem to have accepted and embraced her last days on Earth. May she have a peaceful passing.
My experience with Hospice Angels was they were able to determine almost to the hour how much time my loved had. They prepared me and I thank them.

Sad news. She was so talented and so liked by many.
That varment cancer must be stopped. I encourage all that I can to support the research centers to squash that disease on all levels. It devastates too many families and loved ones.

@Puzzle Piece As far as I know she is still with us, so "is."

Rory Feek's blog, This Life I Live, is beautifully written and makes me marvel at the power of faith for some people. His writing is definitely worth reading. The situation they are in is dreadful, but their love, hope and acceptance are life-affirming.
Joey Feek opted to stop cancer treatment in October. She had hoped to survive until her daughter's 2nd birthday. She accomplished that and is now in a deep sleep, according to her husband.

Thank you for the correction. Sometimes my fingers have a mind of their own lol.
