Re: Job scam texts

[ Edited ]

It's a text not an email. I don't understand why many of you think it's an email.  I get hundreds of annoying emails all the time and ignore them.

Usually when I get a text I expect it to be friend or family.  I take a look when I hear the notification.  I guess I am just being naive.

@I am still oxox

When you share tidbits of information, I.e., "retired," they may pass you on to more appropriate scammers !

@KittySoftPaws

Very frustrating when you click Unsubscribe and their next screen asks for your email address....I won't enter it and just delete/ junk it.

Getting so I don't trust much of what I see on any screen !

Thanks AI

@haddon9 - I don't know what texting app you're using but some have the option to only allow those in your contacts list to text you.  Might be worth checking that out.

 I don't have it set because I so rarely get anything from an unknown source.  But I have blocklisted a couple.

@Venezia There is an app on the iPhone that will block "unknown caller" but they can still text.  I think it's a good app because I don't have to get calls from people who aren't on my contact list but if it is important like a new doctor they can leave a message.

I got a new iPhone over the summer and use the texting app that came with the phone.  I'm sure there is a way to get another texting app but I'm a bit technologically challenged and I just want things to be easy.

I haven’t got one YET, but I never would open a text like that. I would delete and report scam instead.

I have got job emails but they always address them to somebody else probably trying to get me to respond that they have the wrong email. Again I just delete.

I don't get texts or emails but I randomly get a message on my landline saying,"Hi, it's Jake wondering if you will be using the jet this week.  Let me know."  I've never used my jet!  Too funny.

i have also gotten landline calls asking what I thought of the candidates.  Guess I own a company and have a jet!

They don't call often, maybe once a month or so.

@haddon9 - I googled "can iPhone block unwanted texts" and came up with several YouTube videos on how to do it, plus some articles (including from Apple Support).

I can't post any live links here, but it's worth investing a few minutes, if you really want to find a way to stop them.

Good luck.

@Venezia Thanks for checking!   I will look into them on YouTube.
