p.s. Joan had a lot of depth, too. Deep feelings for other people. I recall (her early appearances on QVC) her sincere sympathies for/with QVC customers/callers who had losses, illnesses, etc. She was sincerely and genuinely very saddened to hear their plights, their stories.

romary i recall some of those moments also. i also remember that sometimes she would be so touched by someones story that she would ask them to hold on and she asked someone on the phones to get the persons name and address so that she could send her something from her line......i recall her doing this numerous times. i think the way she reached out to others was truly special.

I don't feel that way. I think she knew how special she was.

She was a very humble person, IMO.

I believe this to be true...she was a comedienne...sometimes over the top...but I believe she had a huge heart.

Joan worked hard but had a lot of friends and a loving family. She and Cooper seemed to be especially close and did things together. I think many performers need the adulation of an audience to fulfill themselves. They don't seem to be able to give it up even past the time when they should.

Joan Rivers lived the life she wanted to live and she had an incredible work ethic. Like all human beings Joan Rivers was a complex person. We all have ups and downs in our life and Joan Rivers wasn't any different from the rest of us in that regard. She worked hard, she loved her family and she did good things for many people. I'm sure she had her faults too. I do think that she took time to "smell the roses". May she RIP.

I always liked and admired Joan. She was a hard worker who never gave up. I loved it when she would say ""Oh grow up.""

Re: Joan Rivers movie A Piece Of Work from 2010 Such a Sad Startling Insight.

She was just an INCREDIBLE person, in that she never let circumstances stop or derail her ambition. I used to have one of her previous books, "Still Talking," and in it, she detailed what she had to go through to have her career....I would never have done it, not in a million years, but she just wouldn't quit or give up on her dream.

Yes she was quite humble; I think she was just a very special person.
