mominohio has been arguing about this for hours now and still hasn't won any converts.  It's not about how many posts you knock out but actually reading the facts others have posted.

Vaccines and antibiotics are 2 different things. In the long run, vaccinated people live. The logic is that someone who is protected doesn't ordinarily need an antibiotic.

Lila is correct.  Also, measles are a virus.  Antibiotics are NOT used to fight a virus, they are used for bacterial infections.

I guess for those unable to follow, I'll explain that I never stated antibiotics were used to treat virus. I said that science was wrong about the overuse/abuse of antibiotics in the past, and we are now dealing with the fallout of that 'science'. So why would there be no possibility that the same type of thing could go down with some of the vaccines in the future? But let's cloud the issue with persona insults and attacks, that will make it right.

And we certainly don't want to cloud the issue with misinformation and unfounded and uneducated assumptions.

I didn't refer to you at all.  As for let's continue with the personal insults, I've seen nothing else from you.

Let me know if you ever have facts and a logical presentation to consider.  You have been going through almost every post on two lines, personally attacking every poster who had disagreed with you.  Not a fact to be had from you.

This is one of those subjects that shouldn't be based on a point of view.

It should be based on science and evidence.

Oy, again with the science. That same science that is constantly changing, evolving, and proving itself wrong at times? That science? OK, then let's do that.

Oy, let's just go with the wild eyed speculation that has no basis in anything then

I actually enjoyed Jim in the early days. I was a fan of the TV show "In Loving Color" and several of his earlier movies were very entertaining. Then they just became silly, IMO.

With that said, I was watching the news this morning and I heard about his tweet, I just had to shake my head. I think it's highly irresponsible for people/celebrities to make those kinds of statements, without stating the true facts.

I am from California, so perhaps the whole issue bothered me a little more.

We have to ask what are the 'true facts'? Are they going to be the same tomorrow, as science does change and evolve? Are those facts based in any way or chance in political power, money, or any other integrity corrupting way?

I guess that would be your "true history" then.  And "Real Americans".

But we simply can't consider the few. Only the majority matter. Only the science is right. No one is to have an opinion, an intuition or faith in anything else. Sarcasm inserted.

no, you are entitled to your belief, but you aren't entitled to your own set of facts.

Opinions are just that - an opinion.   I will take the wisdom and knowledge of doctors over anyone who isn't one here.

The bottom line is, the vast, VAST majority of parents, in the state of California or any other state, wish their children and grandchildren to be protected from the ignorant and superstitious. The legislators who passed this law in CA and other states did so at the behest of degreed medical science and their constituents.

The anti-vaxxers vow to put it on the ballot. They are making a huge mistake. If they do that, there will be a veritable landslide vote for medical science over hysteria. And then what will they do? Home school, private school or the Utah desert?

moonchilde, you are correct - but I would love to see those terrifying TV ads that the anti-vaxxers are going to put up.

When did this anti-science, anti-intellectualism start up exactly?  I think this is why we are falling behind so many other countries today, instead of being the leaders of education, medicine, infrastructure and technology.  It's beyond pathetic.

There is truly no point beating your head against a wall here if someone refuses to accept any facts.

As someone else stated here but may have meant differently, OY.
