Re: Jessica Simpson reveals...

@BrandiDavis   Good for you, keep going strong!!!!

As far as her book if it helps others, then so be it.   I however feel that we all have trauma in our lives on different levels so I prefer to save my energy for me and my family and not to be weighed down by the struggles of others.    I do though wish everyone strength that needs it.

@tsavorite It's stuff she is revealing to sell books and get on talk shows.  .  . I would expect.

@Sooner

She hardly needs the money, her net worth as of 2020 is $250M-$300M.

And that's separate from her huband, Eric Johnson who's retired from the NFL.

That she was sexually molested by a 'family friend' when she was 6 years old.

That trauma led to her drug and alcohol addiction later in life.

I had no idea....that is HORRIBLE!

I think the idea is that when they disclose these personal struggles, it opens up more dialogue so that others who may be addicted will perhaps feel more ok about seeking help.

This. And from what I've read and heard, it makes a difference for people who do want help. So good for her!

ITA.

Testimony is important for recovery.

So bitter to say 'who cares' then proceeds to start a thread.

People are weird.

Seriously.

What kind of person reads about another's addiction and sexual abuse and says "who cares?" I think some are proud of their callousness. Based on many posts I've seen over the past week, I'm so glad I don't personally know some of these posters IRL. lol

Re: Jessica Simpson reveals...

Maybe she is sharing her story as it might be helpful to someone else. I don't think she needs the money, her fashion and accessory business has been very successful. I don't think limelight is the motivation. I wish her well, I often thought she seemed out of it when appearing on HSN or Q.

@KingstonsMom Who ever needs the money in the celebrity crowd?  They want more money and more more attention and spotlight.

I know.

It's all so....weird.
Much like..."Ooooo, I found a pin. Let me use it to poke my eye!'

Oddly weird. 🤷‍♀️

Wisdom comes with age and JS is getting older. If she can help one person, terrific. I wouldn't buy her book or watch a Lifetime Movie about it but hope she can help someone.

I'm trying to do better in my own life trusting other people's intentions - not to be fooled - I'm tough to fool - but do better not judging others' intentions.

@jeanlake  I just want to thank you for your post and I couldn't agree more.  To be honest, my initial reaction was ugh but then I took a moment to think back on some of the articles I have read about her (and especially her father) and realized she probably had more pressure on her than most folks may know.  She has always seemed very harmless to me and I wish her and her family the very best going forward.  I at first thought this was a money/fame grab but now I do not and if she helps a few people along the way, all the better.

Re: Jessica Simpson reveals...

I was never a fan, but thought she was beautiful when she was very young. People in the entertainment business do all sorts of things to advance their careers so her revelations do not surprise me. If it helps her in her recovery to put it out there then so be it, after all the woman has kids to raise right!
