Ever since I first heard Great Balls of Fire and Whole lotta Shakin' Going On I was a fan.  I loved his musical style and still do.  I know he was involved in a big scandal when he married his cousin but I refer only to his music in this post.  He has left his legacy and his music will live on.  May he be at peace with God.

Have always liked his music, along with his wild ways of expressing it on stage, back when he really put on a show. 

Sad to see he has joined many of my younger times, real as life musicians and showmen, and women.

Try to find the Millon Dollar Quartet's one and only recording and Jimmy Swaggert's recollection of his cousin's attempt to entice him on the road as a part of his band.  I hear echoes of Lewis in some of Swaggert's music today.  Interestingly, he like Elvis, Johnny Cash, and a few others talked about the influence of Black music on their art, especially that found in churches and clubs.  Lewis' showmanship reminds me of other rockers from the 50s such as Chuck Berry and Little Richard.
