I was thinking the exact same thing about the black manes, Greenhouse. So sad.
I wish someone would rescue those cubs.
I was curious about that too....but, having done the Lion Encounter in Africa, I think they said, once in the wild they can't go back to the area of the reserve where animals are kept before release. The Cubs might be older, the Cubs I handled were 2 and below and once a cub lives in a pride and does not interact regularly with humans, he/she would be dangerous to other lions and caretakers. I think once they are wild, it is survival of the fittest. But, I would think maybe a zoo if Oxford agreed but since they are studying lion behavior, they might study the Cubs and how they survive...but it is sad and could have been prevented.

I don't think it is the balance in nature. If nature had anything to do with it, Cecil would still be alive. He was a strong and dominant lion. It took man using a weapon rather than hand-to-hand combat to take him down. If the dentist had wrestled with Cecil to try to kill him, he wouldn't have won. So, those cubs are left vulnerable by an UNnatural act rather than a natural one.

I just hope the US extradites him back to Africa so he can pay for what he's done. I also wish they would turn him loose, let the people there hunt him down and do the same thing to him as he did to Cecil. He is one more despicable man, and I use the term man loosely.

Feed him to the lions!

I had a similar thought: let the punishment fit the crime. Release him, unarmed with no high-powered crossbow or rifle, into the lion preserve and see how he does in a "fair fight". I wonder how "big" a man he'd be then?
Totally heartbreaking, the chain of events this man and his "professional local guides" have set in motion.
(Even the local guide is making excuses for his own behavior. Anything to save their own worthless hides.)

Perhaps - but this "process" was not the natural order of things. It involved men interfering illegally with that "process". I don't think anyone outraged by what has happened would be having the same reaction, if it had been a natural death.

You're right... Turn him loose and let the lions take care of him... I just want him to suffer as much as Cecil did. He had to suffer 40 hours or so from the bow wound before this idiot of a man shot him in the head...

We can't ignore what's happening in nature. The reason humans exist is because of a delicate balance in nature.
If one thing is disturbed, the balance is disturbed.
We've already been pretending we haven't disturbed the earth, and we're seeing out of control weather patterns because of that.
