I've been looking for a long time for an older Jeep Wrangler. I really didn't want to spend more than $5000 for one, as it will be our third vehicle, and it will be used mostly just for fun. I found one the other day, but it has 171,000 miles on it. Ugh! It books for way more than they are selling it for, but I am still very hesitant.
If you own or have owned a Jeep Wrangler, how do/did you like it?

@Sue98I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler with 90,000 miles on it. I love it. It's my only car so I don't take it off road here in AZ. I used it on the beach in New York.
My jeep is worth a lot more money here then New York.
Please have it checked out, bumper to bumper.
Good Luck!

My daughter purchased one as her first vehicle....brand new. She loved it and drove it until it finally would go no more. She had it from 1995 to 2017.
i hated it. I always called it a garbage can with wheels. I once was a passenger in it for four hours on a trip. When we got to our destination, I could not wait to get out if it. My insides actually hurt.
The ride is not smooth and you shake and get knocked around. When the vehicle hits a bump, you really get beat up. It ’s like a like being on an amusement park ride, it is not a fun vehicle IMO. My daughter would disagree.
She now drives my DH’s old Cherokee with almost 200,000 miles on it that he passed down to her and he drives a Jeep Renegade as his everyday vehicle.
I recommend that you take a long test drive in a Wrangler before you actually purchase. I don’t think high mileage is an issue if it was well taken care of....and the price is right. Jeeps are usually on the road forever. They last a long, long time.

I would not own any other car. I currently own a 2015 Rubicon.
This is my fourth Jeep and I love them.

@Sue98 In 2000 I bought a new Wrangler Sahara. I wasn't into off roading or anything like that, it was just a vehicle I had a desire for many years to own. After 3 years I had "my experience" and traded it.
It was my main driver, so naturally my experience with it probably won't be of much help to you. It had a stiffer suspension which meant a rougher ride. It didn't get anywhere near the projected gas mileage, which bummed me out as it didn't have a lot of get up and go. It was only OK in snow. Daimler Chrysler was having issues with brakes at that time, my rotors were turned down after 3 months, then had to be replaced at 12,000 miles. There was a recall on it, but I don't remember what it was as I had already traded it in.
It just wasn't my cup of tea. However my neighbors love them and have continuously owned them for 30 years.
The biggest thing I think would be to have it looked over by either a mechanic or a trusted individual who knows vehicles as you really don't know how hard the vehicle was used.

I've been driving a Jeep Wrangler for 20 ish years. In the snow, I get everywhere I need to be. It's also the perfect height for me to get in and out and not hurt my body. I've had no regrets and will continue to drive one.
Have fun!

We are a Jeep family. DH is on his 2nd Wrangler. I am on my 3rd Jeep family car. The newer Wranglers do not ride as rough, but still can make you stiff on long drives. Wranglers are definitely fun, and Wrangler drivers wave to each other all across the U.S.

Jeeps are very popular here in my state of Colorado. My neighbor just bought a new Trackhawk and loves it. He actually traded in his new Dodge Challenger in for it and he told me the Jeep was faster than that Challenger!....WHAT!!??
His wife was happy to see that Dodge go. She loves the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
I've never owned a Wrangler but there are many on the roads here. They come with high insurance rates because of the 4WD.
