I was such a fan, he was so funny. His yearly story on Letterman about driving the Lone Ranger home made me laugh and laugh every year. It was said to be the greatest TV story ever, and is available on youtube.

He also played Carla's husband in Cheers.

I agree. I used to like him. I haven't seen or heard about him in a long though it seems like. Good grief! I had no idea.

i remember him from when he was on mork and mindy.....maybe for one season or two. may he rest in peace.

So sad, he was a great actor. He was a pup too! So young. Sad to see so many ailing, fighting and dying from cancer. I think many cancers will be eradicated by 2075. And, the young kids in 2075 will probably take it all for granted. 🤔

@Noel7 I, too, am sorry to learn of his death. Thank you for mentioning the Lone Ranger story. I had not heard it before, so went to youtube on your recommendation. It was the first time I laughed in two days.

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.

One of my all-time favorite actors. He was so funny as coach Meister in Mr. Holland's Opus. When Jay was in a scene as Meister, he captured the personality almost exactly of a coach at my high school.

I'm going to miss him.
