I'm so sorry he and his wife are going through this. Any family who has experienced this knows how hard it is. Prayers going their way.

He preceded it by saying that the good she has done for so many charities and needful situations, far exceeded anything he has ever done. He held her up on a pedestal. He was in awe of her. He said he wanted her to come out and talk about some of things she supported. She was very soft spoken and shy.
He came across as a humble guy that became a success. BUT his wife, in his eyes, was the star.
He always talks fondly of his wife. I am sure this is tough for him. I learned something new here. I thought your spouse always had control if the other spouse becomes ill. I never knew you had to file.

@KingstonMom maybe he wanted to control the situation instead of having the media having their say about this. This can be informative for other people going through the same thing.

I think the issue is if JL passes before his wife.
He wants to be sure she is taken very good care of, especially since they do not have children.
I remember when my dad bought a spot for my mom, years before she died, at a local cemetary. She never wanted to be buried in the ground; reminded us frequently. I was with them and I said to dad - how about getting one for you too? Dad's response was - "no, that will be you & your sister's problem". Thanks dad.
Many people don't like to plan ahead.

I am so sorry to hear this. Jay has always seemed to respect and cherish his wife, and it is very good that he is planning ahead. This is what a true, loving and life-long partnership looks like. Wishing them the very best.

How sad for Jay. He seems like such a decent human being. I remember once he said he didn't have any relatives left living. Sending good thoughts his way.

Jay Leno does seem like a very nice person who wants to ensure the best care for his wife.
They are very fortunate that they can afford the best and not have to worry about finding a place that accepts Medicare or worry about running out of funds like the vast majority of Americans do. I'm sure she'll have the best home care possible for as long as possible.
I wish them the best.

Remember when Jay was burned well over a year ago and he said that
he had to go home first to take care of his wife, well now that tells us
why. He probably needed to explain in detail to her what happened before
his stay in the hospital.
