Isn't this Finch Canary just a bundle of joy?
Hope all my birding friends are well. We start a bathroom remodel on Monday, so you may not see me for awhile.

Puddles, good luck with your remodeling!!! Mousiegirl whew!!! you and yours have been mighty busy at your home also. I don't have the talent, money or ability to do stuff like that any more. Very jolting to one's ego. LOL.
Love all the bird pictures - my birds are everywhere enjoying this springlike weather we have had for a few weeks now. Saw one bluejay, however, that was perhaps one of the smallest I have ever seen - the bluejays around here are huge but this one was not.
Filled the feeders earlier today and they were all happy about that - have not seen any doves today - yet that is. They are here daily so am sure they will arrive.
Feel sorry for my neighbor two doors down. He use to breed pit bulls, but the laws are so strict on that breed out here now he went to boxers. He built a magnificent cooling place for his dogs - he had swamp coolers and fans in there - he built it last Fall. Code enforcement showed up a few days ago and told him he had to tear it down - it was magnificent. It was two feet more than the law allows. They told him they took a pix from an airplane - yeah sure. Someone obviously reported him and although he is checked and is always legal with his dogs, they told him he now can only have a total of 4 dogs - well how can you breed with that number. He had 6 (three were little chihuahua's, two pit bulls and one whatever - these were his. He had to find homes for two of them. He also had a rooster and 3 chickens. Had to chuckle over that as he got in trouble some years back for having a rooster. You can have chickens here but not a rooster - was upset however, when he said he had no choice other than send them to heaven. He is one of those neighbors that anyone would love to have and am wondering who would have done that. The neighbors next door I really like but I think maybe their daughter may have. She went on a rant earlier this week about one of Renee's pit bulls - she hates them. She said it was trying to attack her by knocking down the fence????? - I have NEVER seen his animals do that. Will not write what she said she would have her husband do but I spoke with her for quite a spell telling her she needed to talk to Renee as he would work with her and without a doubt alleviate any of her concerns. More to this story than I am sure meets the eye. Anyway, that lady has a problem. She is the mother of the three children and I had already noticed she tends to overreact on some things but I have never seen anything like this. I feel so bad for Renee as he is an excellent neighbor and does not bother anyone. And get this, REnee donated two cages for them to keep their rabbits in. If it was this gal would bet anything her parents do not know of her rant. Always something isn't it.
Took Conrad to the doggie beauty shop. He desperately needed a trim and it was a good time to do it. He is not overly excited about going there but I feel strongly they are very good to him.
Stripes continues to be a good boy and is hanging out with me more and more. LOL. I did not like it when he kept disappearing. Did notice a few times this week, however, when I went out to call him, he came out of the Wash - that bothers me as coyotes and other critters sometimes traverse that area. When we first moved out there everyone lost a lot of cats to critters in the Wash but it has thinned out. Thank goodness!
Hope all have a good day and hope all stay warm.

Hi Birding Friends, Wow, here we are at the end of another week. I hope you all have a relaxing and safe weekend. I got to drive my youngest GS to school each day this week. DS usually does that now when he's in town. It was a nice change for me as I used to do it almost every day. We have cool conversations about so many different things and listen to fun Country music on the way.
The birds are sure busy here again. The new feeder I ordered from Duncraft arrived and its bottom, where the seed goes, is smaller than the one that broke. It's only 4 inches across where the old one was 7 inches. Will try and find one closer to that size. It is well made though.
Winifred, It sure is a shame for your good neighbor to be harassed by the Code enforcement guys. Seems to always be the good guys who get it "stuck to" them, instead of the animal abusers, hoarders, and puppy mills. Good deeds never go unpunished, it seems. I am sorry about his chickens too. So unfair. I don't believe for one moment that all pit bulls are bad. It's how the poor things are raised, and that's true of almost any breed of dog. There really aren't bad dogs, just bad owners. Having had Doberman Pinschers, I know how certain breeds are cast in a bad light. I wouldn't trade my Dobes for anything. They were the gentlest dogs I ever had and we had Labs, Schnauzers, Collies and many mixed breeds for years. The Doberman breeders have been breeding for good temperament for many generations of Doberman's and the dogs today are so very different from the "war dogs" of WW2.
Renee sounds like the kind of neighbor I'd like to have too. We have sure had some doozies over the years. Glad we do have 2 acres and woods behind us and then a lot of room on the other side of us. Good to hear that Stripes is being a good boy and I hope that trend continues. Does Conrad like to strut around after his hair cuts and grooming? Our little Min. Schnauzers seemed to know that they looked really cute after their groomings and would pose and strut like they were so special, which they were. Gretchen especially made a spectacle of herself. Sassy wasn't as bad, but she did prance and strut too. They loved it!!
I also hope you all get some rain out there soon. Sounds awful with the drought and the fires going again.
Mousie, I sure don't envy you and the remodeling. In the long run though, it will be wonderful to have all the improvements in your home. I like red too, so I bet that room is really pretty and cozy. I hope you all get rain soon too. It rained here a couple of times this past week. Home had more snow and it's in the teens for highs.
My brother bought a new Kubota tractor, 26 HP with a front loader. He says it'll help him clear the yard of branches and logs still down on the lawns from last year's storms. He has a bad back and bad knees. Not a spring chicken, like me, although I am 3 years older than him. Our younger brother retired finally from being a nurse anesthetist. He has Renauds Syndrome, where his fingers, the finger tips, especially, and his toes have lots of problems with cold temps. Working in the OR all the time, where the temps. are cold, gave him some trouble but he was able to do his job well in spite of the fingers.
Puddles, I hope the bathroom remodeling goes well for you and DH. My brother started doing the fixtures in the tub over a year and a half ago and it's still not finished. Thank goodness the walk in shower is separate from the tub. I love showers more that tub and am not supposed to use hot water or soak in tubs due to sensitive skin, so I lucked out there. Give Snow White a good tummy rub and hugs for me.
Birdmama, How is Grayson and his siblings doing? I am guessing he's still top bird, but bet Presto would take over if given the chance. I hope your 'garage pigeons' are doing ok with the cold weather. At least they have shelter from the winds and rain/snow by being in the garage. I often wonder where wild birds find shelter, in the trees?, shrubs.? They don't seem all wet and bedraggled from the elements.
I found this little hummingbird's photo on Facebook, and thought it was so cute and had beautiful colors.
~~I thought I'd post his/her photo here. It's probably a guy since the colors are so beautiful and bright.
I need to close for now, DS is fixing supper and I need to chop onions and cut some bacon up.
Waving to all Birding Friends, Meuw, Stepping Stone, Hooty, Anika, Loves, and anyone I missed. Have a wonderful rest of your evening and a terrific weekend. Keep safe and warm.

How do you feel about sharing the month and day you were born? If you don't want to share the day part of the date, how about the month. I think we may have missed Winifred's birthday but I don't know that for sure.

Hoping we didn't miss your birthday, Winifred, but just in case~~~ Happy Birthday and have a blessed and wonderful coming year.
