As a practicing Roman Catholic I was relieved to hear that Holmes was sentenced to life in prison. Our faith is very clearly opposed to capital punishment. We can only hope he receives mental health care in prison.

He will get justice.

He received justice acording to our legal system. Some will agree with the decision; others will disagree.
Anything else that you might be insinuating is not justice; it's vigilantism.

Neither was Jeffrey Dahmler .
I don't know what that means, Dahmer was killed by fellow prisoners while on work detail...........He was not segregated.

Someone who is seriously mentally ill is not responsible for their actions. That's what mental illness is..
Life without parole is just. He is too dangerous to be in society, but that doesn't mean we kill someone who is severely disabled mentally.

Death penalty requires unanimous decision. The jurors spent 15 weeks in that courtroom, & saw & heard some really grisly evidence. I'm sure every one of them cared deeply. BTW, I live in Denver & watched some of the live court proceedings on cable tv. Had to stop because it was so difficult. At least I had the option to not see or hear some of it. The jurors did not have that option.

Which, of course, is different than being legally insane for purposes of being tried and punished..

"Insane" is a legal term, not a medical one. It usually refers to the ability to know the difference between right and wrong.
Unfortunately, some people on a jury don't understand it's pretty meaningless most of the time. Holmes was considered psychotic.
