Every woman in my family was named Bertha for at least 6 generations. Thank Goodness my Dad was having no parts of that and my name is different. They called my Mom Snooky, my Grandma "B" and great grandma Kay - her middle name was Katherine.

My mother's given name was Amy but since her mother's was also Amy, she went by her middle name Dorothy, nicknamed Dot.

Joanne was the way it was spelled on her birth certificate. She started spelling it Joann when in high school because she thought it seemd more exotic. Her full name was Joanne Mae and my sisters and I would lovingly call her Joanie or Joannie Mae when we were teasing her about something. Oh how I miss her...
