Re: JUST CURIOUS....Your Thanksgiving Menu

My family likes traditional food, no fancy dishes, so it's turkey, filling, mashed potatoes, candied yams, green beans, whole corn, cranberry sauce, gravy, and this year dessert will be Beatrice's Fruit and Nut Cake and Marie Callender's pies, Pumpkin and Apple Crumb.

Re: JUST CURIOUS....Your Thanksgiving Menu

Whatever we decide that day.  Could be waffles and ham, steaks, salmon filets, turkey and dressing, all out of the freezer.  Maybe with instant pot sweet potatoes and Le Sueur green beans!  Or brusself sprouts--some in fridge!

Or a sandwich!  We get something from the freezer or make waffles!  Just so no fuss!

And we are making today the crunched up orange zest, cranberry, sugar, pecans and Grand Marnier stuff!  I LOVE LOVE that.

@haddon9  Except the exterior building, your brother would not recognize Resorts at all.  It is no longer your Merv Griffin/Zsa Zsa Gabor casino.  It's all changed & pretty much redesigned - rooms, casino, restaurants, etc.  That being said, Resorts still caters mainly to "seniors."

Re: JUST CURIOUS....Your Thanksgiving Menu

The absolute worst Thanksgiving we had was in 1983.  My DSIL wanted us to go to Luby's for lunch then back to her place for tons of deserts.   O.K. sort of by me, until that night NO LEFTOVERS!!  My husband and I lived out in the country no stores, no fast food nothing but our freezer/fridge and a fry daddy at 9:30 at night.  Pizza and pop tarts!!  She still gets ribbed about that decision decades later.  All family members still give her grief about 1983.

I will be alone this Thansgiving because of Covid restrictions, so nothing really.  I do have a Turkey lean cuisine in the freezer I can heat up if the mood strikes.

Re: JUST CURIOUS....Your Thanksgiving Menu

Turkey breast, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce.   Dessert will likely be cherry fluff.

I only cook the foods the 4 of us will actually eat, and we don't eat vegetables or bread with this meal.

@RedTop - what is cherry fluff?

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
