I started around my house today with my west highland terrier and we met up with a snake!   April's showers brings May's flowers but the heat of late has brought out the creepy crawlies as well.    My mail lady lost her little schnauzer to a rattlesnake bite and I am fearful of all snakes.   Be careful & watch your steps!

My Reilley on Monday had his rattlesnake booster. Call your vet and schedule one for your Westie. I've had the honor of rescuing four Westies through the years..

@Boomernichols.  There's the cutest video on Facebook now.  A westie is with a herd of 25 or so sheep.  He starts toward them but they turn and start chasing him, around and around.  It's clear they're all having a ball.  He makes no attempt to leave. Not much of a sheep dog but. Cute.

I've never let my dogs outside unless I was with them. When I lived in the West, the neighbors & I were aware of snakes, scorpions, killer bees, etc. There are probably different risks in different areas, and dogs can be curious or playful without knowing hazards.

Yes, it's getting to be that time.  I don't like seeing them and I hope I only see the harmless ones!   I hope I don't have to rescue any of the rat snakes from the dogs this year, but we will see.......

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

@Boomernichols   I have a precious little Westie, too.

A couple of years ago we were in the front yard playing and saw leaves moving and Sammy took off... he took three bites and there's no doubt in my mind he was protecting me. Thank God I was able to get him to a local trauma center for dogs and they saved him. Those bites were already necrotizing and it was so scary... y'all, please take care...
