The baby of Tahleuah (the mother orca who captured the nation with her grief over losing her baby) is getting big. Still don't know the sex of the baby. (won't know till another year or so) Anyway, it's mother allowed the tiny youngster to lead the pod though "Active Pass" off of British Columbia. This is where the resident Orcas live all year. Remember that Orcas are the ace predators, so youngsters are allowed to swim ahead by itself. Most marine life is terrified of Orcas and avoid them. So here's a photo of J57. Active Pass is an area sometimes filled with Orcas. The Resident ones (they eat salmon) and the "true" killer whales, Transients. (they eat mammals) The Transients pass through as they are constantly roaming the oceans. Both groups respect each other and keep peacefully apart. They never socialize with each other.
