J and J is supposedly over 70% effective in transmission and 100% effective in preventing hospitalizations and fatalities. it was our first choice, but assume it is no longer an option for this week. Dr Fauci was highly in favor of it. I doubt it would have been approved if only 40% effective.

The J&J vaccine's efficacy is about 70%, with pfizer and modera around 90-95%.
The flu vaccine is just under 40% so maybe you got your info confused, but J&J is significantly more efficacious than that.
Any of the three vaccines are good options, even if J&J is a bit lower in full efficacy, it still prevented serious complications.

My local CVS is giving out Pfizer. A person needs to have insurance to get the vaccine at a drugstore.
Pop-ups in my area, also require insurance.
Next week, anyone 16+ can get a shot. There will probably be more J&J vaccine dispensed.

@Nuttmeg These vaccines are FREE. Does not matter if you have ins or not. So are you saying CVS will turn away uninsured folks?
This is what I do not understand. If vaccines are FREE, why do certain places need ins info?

Me too! I'm never in a hurry for a new product..particularly something that's to be injected into my arm.
@haddon9 ... yes, especially since once the โjuiceโ is injected there is no way of getting it out of the body & we have to deal with the outcome regardless if itโs good or bad ... I truly donโt believe the politicians & doctors telling us that it is perfectly safe!!!

@January121 I'm another not getting the vaccine. And I agree with you totally.

I think that everyplace asks for your insurance info *if* you have it so they can bill your insurance. So though CVS asks for insurance info, if you don't have insurance you can still get the vax. That is my understanding anyway.

The vaccines are safe and effective. Totally your choice to choose what is best for you, but this hasn't been pushed out by politicians. Real medical science built these vaccines and they work!!!
I had my first Pfizer last week and had no side effects whatsoever. It was truly a relief to get my first shot and start to feel safer, especially when so many continue to have tantrums over wearing masks.
