I am sorry my post was deleted  and also the one from  F.D. Neither were designed to bait ,the one from  F. Douglass  explaining why social justice is important ,was relevant ,because ,the Jews certainly were denied all of their rights, as human beings

@Marp  I am proud of these students, for  holding up the values our  fathers, brothers, and uncles, fought to secure ,for our friends in peril ,across the ocean

Thank you for this thread, @Marp.❤️    I want to add some images and a link to one of the brief videos.   I've seen comments in the past about concerns that history isn't being taught in our schools today, and also worries about America's youth.    It's lovely and important to see these stories that show us the hope and promise we can see in younger generations.

Lt Colonel Michienzi is a highly decorated war hero as he served in WWII, Korea and two tours in Vietnam.  He was a U.S. Army platoon sergeant in WWII serving at the Battle of the Bulge in late 1944 with the 17th Airborne Division.

Throughout his service career, Mr. Michienzi  was honored for "his extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty" as evidence by his medals:  several bronze stars, several silver stars, six purple hearts, the French Legion of Honor and the Distinguished Service Cross.   Mr. Michienzi has never been back to France or Belgium and is excited about seeing the peaceful lands he helped liberate."

"...six high school students, as well as two Smith Middle School teachers, decided to help WWII veterans George Chall and Jacques Michienzi back where they fought 75 years ago.

“The students held weekly meetings every Saturday morning starting in September and used their time to plan events to raise money," Robin McMahon, a Smith Middle School French teacher who helped put together the project, said.

They raised money through a booth at the school's Global Connections Night, a presentation about the war from a local historian, selling concessions at school dances and functions and an event at the North Carolina Botanical Garden that featured a guest lecturer, catered food and a silent auction. They also raised money through GoFundMe... "

@Marp  Thank you so much for posting that beautiful story....indeed, these men helped save the world!  And they surely deserve all accolades and honors that come their way!  Incredible patriots!  And these youngsters and teachers are to be applauded for remembering D-Day, what it meant to the world and honoring these very special veterans. Very touching!
