Right now I'm having my deck refinished, and the refinisher reminded me that I can't let my cats out there for at least a week, to be especially safe.
Oy, are they going to be unhappy and they'll really let me know it.
Boo and Spot are semi-outdoor cats: they stay in our back yard (fully fenced) and never leave. Spot's too old and stiff to climb fences any more, and Boo is too big and awkward and really, I don't think it's ever even occurred to him that he COULD climb a fence.
They both have their favorite napping spots in the summer out there--Spot under a lilac tree and Boo in a shady spot underneath a bench on the deck. It's so sweet to see them so utterly comfortable and relaxed, all stretched out and dreaming sweet dreams.
But it's for their safety and I'll do my best to make it up to them (more toys and extra food) while they're confined.
