Re: It's Spring the ants have arrived.

Oddly enough we have lady bugs more so than ants this year.  I have a hard time killing  lady bugs!

Here in New Jersey, the ant brigade appears in April as well.  I always seem to get them on the kitchen counter near the sink area and also near the back door on the floor area.

This morning, I noticed a few ants on the kitchen counter (much less than in years past.)  I don't like to use any chemical or sprays outside because we have a vegetable garden planted every spring/summer.

I like Terro and use it on the kitchen counter along the back wall nearest the sink.  It brings out what seems like hundreds of ants but, in a few days of them feeding on it, they are gone.

The most difficult thing for me to do is refrain from wiping up/cleaning up the counter in that area.  If you do, you will wipe away the ant trails that they leave to get to and from the nest where the queen is.  As hard as it may be, LEAVE the area untouched (no wiping, no water) so that the process works effectively.

The swarming termites have also made their appearance in NJ.

We're Terro fans here too, even though we have a contract with a pest company. . .we found that the Terro bait works better than theirs!
