gertrudecloset, these are beautiful!! Thank you.
The second picture reminds me of the one I used to ride decades ago in Jersey.
The first is the prettiest I've ever seen.

@Kachina624 wrote:@gertrudecloset Yes, I've heard of craftsmen who specialize just in repairing and painting those horses.
True Artisans @Kachina624 . Though I wouldn't be surprised if by 2035 they will be Artificially Intelligent and you have to ride a facsimile of a carosel.

Especially at night @DSD2 . Warm evenings with family, eating cotton candy and hotdogs. Some good memories for me....

I always wanted the white horse.

There was a wonderful place called Kennywood Park near Pittsburgh that I loved growing up. They had the best merry go round and I have so many wonderful memories of it over the years.
You could choose an up and down horse, stationary horse, assorted jungle animals or even sit in a bench on the ride.

I've loved merry-go-rounds since Day One is seems.
I'd look for the horse with the most jewels that would go up and down. Had to be a Charger. The Stargazrs couldn't see where they were going!
Never saw the point in riding a menagerie animal or a stander.
So much fun "racing" with your sibling and willing your horse to move just that fraction more forward as the ride slowed to a stop!
I went to the New England Carousel Museum once. Loved it.

@DSD2 Even though the merry-go-round two blocks away in the Casino was prettier, reaching for a ring made all the difference.
Also wonderful to remember the great pipe organ music, especially the waltz "Over the Waves."

Oh my heavens yes!!! The "one" ring drew us in, didn't it??
Ah the organ music.
Thanks so much for posting, I'm so happy to recall such happy memories.
