This is awful! In my 6 years of living here, this is the worst! As I said yesterday, I feel like I could burst into flames when I go out on my patio to feed the birds! LOL! And tomorrow the air temp is to be 107!!
We did get a brief thunderstorm with some rain that lasted all of about 10 minutes at the most!
I can NOT wait to get back to PA!! Just waiting for the apt. to open for me and then I'm outta here to work from home up there!

Grew up in Texas and lived in Las Cruces and Albuquerque. No place like home, had to come back to Texas to care for some relatives. NM weather was great but the crime was bad. Our home was burglarized twice in one year in Albuquerque. I lost every material possession dear to me. That was years ago, but I understand crime has really become a serious problem there now.

We are limited to using our sprinkler systems to twice a week, our Rainbird has lasted years with only an occasional sprinkler head needing replaced and DH does that. I would hate to be dealing with all those hoses right now. I have one and only use it to water the planters and refill the water for the birds.

@Trailrun23 Crime seems to be a serious problem in all the urban areas around the country. I had 2 burglaries when I lived in Houston but no problem in NM. I've been here almost 23 years.

Hope you get some relief.
We had waaaay too many mosquitos last year, and too many bites!
For the first time, I'm taking odorless garlic caps ... supposedly they help discourage mosquitos. Also, I've read that one of the best things is to keep a fan softly blowing in your outdoor sitting area ... just blow the little pests away, no chemicals on your skin needed.
Maybe you already know that, and I have no idea if this will help very much yet, but thought I'd pass these ideas on.
@Tinkrbl44 Thanks. 😁

excessive heat warning here in Phoenix for the next several days...114 today low about 90. I so hate this time of year. We are planning on moving out of this desert the end of next year. It can't come soon enough. Lots of people say..It's a dry heat......it is still HOT
you go outside especially when its over 110...and you only feel burn on your skin...like you just opened an oven

Your photo was VERY ACCURATE!!!! And its supposed to be 108 today and 105 tommorrow...hopefully we will "cool down" to 100 and 101 this weekend...🙄🥵🥵🥵
What shocked me was this year, 2022, was tied for 7th/8th place for most 100 degree days going back to1885...I thought for sure this year had to be the hottest!

Yesterday when I checked the afternoon temp around 2:00 the heat index showed 109º I stopped after that but I still feel it here in my part of Texas.

@Kachina624 wrote:@mspatmac @MamaWick The heat in Texas is a primary reason I no longer live there. I suffered through 35 summers and said, "enough!". It was hot, humid, buggy, and ugly. Its not nearly as hot here in NM and none of those other things. I won't even go back to visit friends which is okay because they rather come here.
Now friend I'll agree that Texas is hot, humid, and buggy---but thats just in the summer and there are some parts that are pretty like the Texas Hill Country and nothing beats Texas in the Spring with the beautiful wildflowers...Even parts of the West Texas desert has it's own brand of "beauty" and please don't compare all of Texas with "the swamp" also known as Houston (it was actually built over a swamp)....nor with the flat as a pancake area known as the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area....
