Mine is out all year. Lit at night. From around Memorial Day through Labor Day I add a long  (7') American flag-type banner : stars on top, stripes below'

          Yes, and it's always encouraging to see the flags displayed today (and every day).    Thanks for this thread, @SeaMaiden.❤️

On this day, I always wear the  U.S. flag pin that my immigrant father gave me to wear proudly five decades ago.

I wear it for my country and in memory of my father and his pursuit of the American Dream.  His generation was able to realize all the good that the United States has to offer.

Interesting that today on my hour and a half walk around the neighborhood  this morning.....NOT  ONE FLAG  displayed! I thought I might see at least a few.   That was rather discerning to say the least☹️

we do not display a flag and very few people in our area do.

@golding76

my father immigrated here in the late 1950s. it was a time when there were not a lot of people from his country living here. he worked hard to get here and worked hard to achieve a good life for himself and eventually for his family. if he had not been able to come here, i would not be around.

i appreciate your story. Smiley Happy

One of my favorite poems.

The Flag Goes By

by H.H. Bennett

Hats off!
Along the street there comes
A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums,
A flash of color beneath the sky:
Hats off!
The flag is passing by!

Blue and crimson and white it shines,
Over the steel-tipped, ordered lines.
Hats off!
The colors before us fly;
But more than the flag is passing by.

Sea-fights and land-fights, grim and great,
Fought to make and to save the State;
Weary marches and sinking ships;
Cheers of victory on dying lips;

Days of plenty and years of peace,
March of a strong land's swift increase:
Equal justice, right and law,
Stately honor and reverent awe;

Sign of a nation, great and strong,
To ward her people from foreign wrong;
Pride and glory and honor, all
Live in the colors to stand or fall.

Hats off!
Along the street there comes
A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums,
And loyal hearts are beating high:
Hats off!
The flag is passing by!
