It Was Nice To Get Out Of The House

DD asked me this morning if I wanted to get out of the house.  I can't drive due to my pesky cataracts and am pretty much house bound until my surgeries in a month. It's a beautiful day.  I haven't driven in 2 months.  I miss driving and my freedom.

We just went to Weis and I stayed in the car while she grabbed a half a dozen items and then we went to a coffee shop.  I'm not one for frou frou drinks but I got a pumpkin almond iced latte w/pumpkin cold foam.

Home now and making a chef salad.

We didn't do anything exciting but it was nice to get out and about.

I hope everyone has a good and safe holiday.

OMG....you are gonna be in "hogs heaven" when you get those cataracts removed.    Just had mine done in July....and I couldn't believe the difference.     Honest to pete.....I musta been half-blind.     di

@Desertdi   Everyone has told me the same thing.  Someone said. "wait until you can see all the dust"  lol

When DD was in the store I could just see shapes of people, no faces.

Thses things got bad fast.

Re: It Was Nice To Get Out Of The House

@CrazyKittyLvr2   I bet it was nice to get out even tho you needed a driver.  When I broke my shoulder early December last year I also could not drive for MONTHS.  I have always enjoyed my freedom, and the ability to come and go when I wanted.

My husband became my driver and grocery store pal.  I was so glad when I got driving privleges back several months later.

Take care.

When my Mom couldn't drive anymore, she would like to just get out of the house once in a while.  Target, Walmart, grocery store....just to walk around and look at stuff.  But eventually that became difficult for her do.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 I second what @Desertdi said...just wait...the colors are so very vibrant once again after getting those pesky cataracts taken care of...everything will be crisp and clear once again!!
P.S. glad you got to get out and about with your DD today.❤️

Feels good to be able to get out and about doesn't it.  How did you like your iced pumpkin latte?  I love frou frou drinks but make my own using Starbucks' ready to drink that I buy at the grocery store and flavored creamers.  Sometimes I'll add whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.  Even the lightest Starbucks drink (in store) is too strong for me.

Re: It Was Nice To Get Out Of The House

After cataract surgery you'll find you can't stand bright lights. Wear sun glasses in summer and if the snow bothers you wear them in winter too.

Glare from oncoming cars with their brights on I have to turn away. I didn't let mine go as long as you did, but, once Medicare would pay for the operation I got it done . Right before Covid hit ! They do one eye at a time. Your knocked out. Even though for a second I could hear the surgeon say "Oh no, she blinked" and the gas man said "that's ok you got it at 98%". Then,

I was knocked out again.

Only time I was aware of just being able to hear, but, not see anything. Guess they put me deeper under when I blinked. LOL

I don't like strong lights.

I was awake both times listening to the doc & nurses chatter away.
