This is what I think: I have been ordering groceries online at wal-mart for months and picking them up at the drive through. They put them in my car, I take them in my house, hand wash and sanitize the doors etc. Today wal-mart parking lot was full and there were lots of people going in. Wal-mart is enforcing the social distancing at the doors. Most people did not have masks. The virus is still with us and I think infections will more up again in the next few weeks.
I am social isolating because it is coming again. People are not being careful out there. Right now, I am trying to stock up on items that were previously sold out.

Fellow nurse here doing the same thing. Just laying low and taking it easy. We have not totally opened back up yet, but I won't be going out shopping or eating in restaurants when they do. My daughter will have to go back to work, so I do worry about her.
And every single nurse I know here is saying the same thing. In fact, they have felt disrespected by seeing some of the protests because they know it is them that will be having to risk their safety taking care of people. In the meantime, our ICU admissions in our state are going up a tad. So I understand their concern.

I'm a nurse as well, and I am following suit with you both and most of my co-workers are doing the same. We are staying in and avoiding crowds. No restaurants, movies, shopping for myself or my husband. ICU admissions have been on the rise steadily in our city and are expected to peak early June. We are far from out of the woods, but you won't convince some people of that so we nurses will just do what we are called to do...care for people regardless of how selfish, ignorant and deplorable they behave. 🤷🏻♀️

Our state did not make it mandatory to wear a mask and there are more than 50% of people that we see everywhere we go, that don't wear one. I don't like it and we usually stay at home for that reason. Our mail carrier refuses to wear a mask because it's too hot even with a cloth covering, she said. How is that fair? Some states make it a requirement and others do not and then when you see our top men and women not masked it confirms to those who choose not to wear one that they don't have to.

And they're not social distancing extremely well at all especially my mail carrier.

The county that I live in in PA is still under a stay at home order per the Governor. (now until June 4th). While it is tough, I do support this as there are still too many cases spreading in this area. I have been in for over 2 months now. I have groceries delivered every 2 weeks and have not been anywhere except for my front porch, back deck and back yard. I have asthma, so I need to be careful.
That said, I am really disappointed in some of the people around here. The unit above mine was rented out to a young (in their 20s) couple who feel the rules don't apply to them. They had another party up there on Friday night. (This is the 4th weekend over the past 8 weeks that they have had a lot of people over despite the stay at home order). In "normal" times, I really would not care, however, instead of just using their private entrance, they have people running in and out of our shared entryway, so I am forced to sanitize the area frequently. Other neighbors have had large groups of people over. I see groups of people out for daily walks without any protection or distancing. It is sad, but for some people, unless this virus somehow impacts them directly, they don't care about how they might impact others by their actions. I cannot imagine what it will be like once the stay at home order is lifted.

Or worked in the covid unit.
I feel like all our efforts are going to be for nothing. It will just keep spreading and we will have to shut down again because people will be too sick to work.
I hope I'm wrong.

@jackiew - You are SO APPRECIATED in THIS HOUSE, and hopefully in every house in this country, whether the residents want to return to work or just want to keep breathing, or HOPEFULLY a combination of both!

Sorry, I wasn't referring to myself. My son-in-law does work in the covid unit in Detroit so it is personal. He's definitely the hero. But it means I can't hug my grandkids...probably for a long time.

Exactly!!!! I've also heard that at least 72 of the protesters in Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago have reportedly tested positive for Covid so far.
You heard correctly. Eleven of them are from the town where I live, and six are in the local hospital. I know some of them from the range where used to target shoot before COVID.
Unfortunately for those protestors, getting the virus themselves is the only way they would understand why all these stay at home measures were started.
