I don’t even understand how they track viewing a post. It’s not like you hit something to indicate you are viewing a post. If you do a scroll drive by do they count that as a view? I don’t get it.
Number of views noted on lower left of any post simply means number of times a thread was opened with that post present in the thread.
It doesn't mean anyone actually read it.
A lot of times I don't read past the first post or two, but everyone's post registered another 'view' just because I opened the thread.

This caught my attention a number of years ago.
It is common knowledge now that sellers (or other entities) have the ability to track people's internet browsing.
So if there is a subject I feel strongly about, I will post that opinion and it has always appeared to me that my opinion has gotten "heard."
I know this may sound crazy.😜

Also, people who don't realize that a thread is a conversation. They simply open the thread, maybe read the OP or maybe just the thread title, and then say the stuff that's already been said a dozen times in the thread. It's like it doesn't matter to them what anybody else has to say. It's just all about what they have to say. That's the kind of conversation that's not much fun.
I've noticed that too.
My #1 pet peeve here is when people reply to a post for no apparent reason. For example, if the OP posts, "Who Else Has Seen the New A Star is Born? I Loved It!", they reply, "I haven't seen it. You couldn't pay me to step into a movie theater these days." or "Lady Gaga has no talent. Wouldn't waste my time". Clearly, the OP wants to talk about a movie with others who have seen it or at least are interested. Comments such as those add nothing, and come across as unnecessarily judgmental.
Another example would be, "John Smith's New Book" as the topic, and people reply with a terse, "Never heard of him". Why bother replying then? Disagreeing with someone is fine, but if the subject isn't of interest, scroll on by!
Topics started here are not polls - They're supposed to be the beginning of conversations. :-)
(These are not real examples, btw. I just made them up, although I realize there could be threads here with the same or similar titles.)
You both nailed it. 👍🏼

And remember there are posters that think they are board monitors.....and we know what they do. The moderators have their hands full with that.

I do a lot more reading here now than I used to. Replying here is at your own risk. Personally, I am not good at dealing with snarky replies, so I prefer just reading.
It is a good experiment to give yourself a few days of reading without posting. You will learn a lot about posters. Some are in a perpetual bad mood and others are very giving of themselves and always eager to help. Because of them, I continue to read here...

@Trinity11......there is no reason for anyone to make "snarky" replies. Ignoring those that do that.
Yes, there are many posters that give of themselves and are always there when help is needed.
Like your way of thinking.

What cracks me up is when someone starts a thread about, say a *missing* host.
Title: Where is Gigi Lollipop?
And 14 different people will reply 'She says she's going on vacation with her beau'.
All saying the exact same thing.
Did they not read at least the first 2 replies?
That's about as far as I read, then respond.
Ooops, has someone already mentioned that in this thread?![]()
