@suzyQ3  You live in Paradise!

My city/state is so far down the list I just don't get it.  We're about 40 minutes away from the Atlantic Ocean, a large river is only 10 minutes from our house.  We have theaters, opera houses, art museums, some of the best restaurants on the east coast, movie houses, theme parks, a quick train ride to NYC or DC, and a thriving center city with an ever-growing skyline.

If you can't find fun here, you're just not looking.

@suzyQ3 Now I am just jealous, the pictures are just beautiful, a few years back I visited with two friends in Redondo Beach, CA is that anywhere near you?

The next time I go to CA to visit with my friends I am going to suggest a visit to your beautiful town, you are a lucky lady!

@CareBears, thanks so much. Yes, we feel very lucky.

There are three beach cities in this area. Redondo Beach is adjacent to us to the south, and Manhattan Beach is adjacent to us to the north. We are the smallest, just a strip right along the ocean. The other two meander farther inland.

If you do get the chance, by all means check out Hermosa and Manhattan Beach. :-)

Favorite areas!  I lived northeast of the airport, due east of Venice & MdR. I really miss Fiesta Hermosa!

@suzyQ3 I have not heard of Hermosa Beach (please do not take offense I do not get out much), but it sounds as if you have a slice of heaven at your fingertips!

No offense taken, @CareBears. We did recently get a lot of attention because our pier was featured in the movie "La La Land." The crew guzzied it up with fancy vintage lights that our city is going to add permanently.

And here are pics that shows the expanse of the beach, the Plaza, and then the path that I walk every day.

Been out on that pier for several walks. I have pics similar to yours, all taken during Fiesta Hermosa - which is going on right now, actually (as you of course know).

As a Las Vegas resident I can say it is not all that much fun when you live here JMO. Perhaps for tourists.  I can understand that for fun.

I would rather be at a beach, or sightseeing or with family at a bbq then at a casino.

Cape Cod is fun for me, Salem MA is fun for me. Visiting my family in NY is fun.

@Moonchilde, Fiesta Hermosa will be this Memorial Weekend and than again Labor Day Weekend. They bookmark the summer for us.

You mentioned that you miss it...why not come, then? Personally, although it's fun, I am not a "crowd" person. In fact, as a resident, I look forward to the day after Memorial Day, when the tourists have gone home and the beach is once again quite manageable.

I shouldn't complain, though, because we are not as inundated as beaches farther north such as Santa Monica. There is something to be said for the lack of parking here. :-)

I can't read the article, I don't click on unknown links but I live in the Boston area.  My town is a lovely little colonial type town, close to the water and it has everything that I think of as fun.  Boston, of course, is tourist mecca and we do go into the city for interesting restaurants, theatre, museums, art galleries or to just walk around.  My town, my city, my state, my region....there's everything for everyone.  New Mexico is actually on my bucket list for places I want visit, hubby and I talk about it every year when we make our vacation plans but something else always pushes it out.

My cousin & his wife wife live in Lowell, in a gorgeous old home, they tolerate the winters as she is from Denmark..they love the area & will never leave (they are elderly) ..we plan to visit them this summer..looking forward to it!

@suzyQ3, I totally had a brain fart thinking this is Mem Day Weekend. I know it isn't, don't know why I said this weekend. Senility setting in. For whatever reason I nearly always went to Fiesta Hermosa Mem Day weekend and not Labor Day weekend - mostly the heat.

I now live 350 miles from the South Bay, that's why I won't be attending ;-(

I love good quality street fairs. I miss the Fiesta and Abbott Kinney in Venice - I went every year.

Most of the Central Coast fairs and festivals are a joke, but I went to two last year here that are firmly on my calender: the Capitola Art & Wine Festival and the Santa Cruz Sea Glass show.

I was driving home from work the other morning, listening to local talk radio, and they were discussing WalletHub’s recent list of the “most fun states.”

I nearly crashed the car when I heard New Mexico came in at number 18.  The list is a hoot.

So where’s your state on the list?  Don’t feel pressured to reveal personal information.  You can simply agree or disagree with your state’s ranking, or you can make a case for why it is or why it isn’t fun.

There’s also a list of “most fun cities” on their site.  Albuquerque’s 56 out of 150.

Perhaps we need to define the word “fun.” Woman Wink

I have no dobut my state ranks high on the fun list.  So much so that I won't even click into this link to verify it.  LOL.

Colorado is the only state I would ever consider actually uprooting myself and moving to.
