OMG - my Kmart is closing.

Nope. Neither our Kmart or Sears are on the list. I am surprised too as there are never any cars outside the store. 

My DD used to work at the Kmart here before she moved and it was always empty.

We haven't had a Sears of Kmart for years in our small town.  They were busy in their heyday.  On the other hand, we have a very nice "smaller" Penneys that is always clean and well stocked for the size of the store.  I really hope we don't lose this gem.

I really hate hearing about stores closing and people losing jobs.  I am totally shocked our Sears isn't on the list.

we have 1 sears and 1 kmart here in ri and there both closing.

I'm relieved my Kmart is safe for now. If it closes that just leaves Walmart , and that would be bad. It doesn't look good for the long run though.

Thanks for the heads up @SeaMaiden.  I can prepare mentally for this which I know sounds stupid.  Kmart has been part of my life for a very long time.

The Sears in the mall I frequent is closed for renovations.  It was 3 floors and it will reopen as one floor.   They’re adding other stores and a kids’ play area to it.

The KMart near us closed about a year ago. They are now building at least 3 large stores (Giant Supermarket, Michael's and another store) about 10 smaller stores and a gas station on just the KMart lot.

It was a BIG lot. Guess that is why it was so fast to close.
