I live in North Jersey and noticed this a few (maybe more than a few) years ago...there are so few lightning bugs compared to years ago. I used to spent hours catching them when I was a kid. I read an article online last summer that lightning bugs are decreasing and there was a program you could enroll in to count them in your backyard to help scientists figure out the numbers. Have lightning bugs decreased where you live?
