Re: Is it worth it to turn in your jewelery you don't want anymore?

My sister did it through the mail and got a few hundred dollars. I thought she'd get ripped off but she didn't.

I sold gold jewelry of mine that I no longer wanted to U.S.Goldbuyers. After her death, I sold my mom's jewelry, on consignment, through a local antique shop. I was told one person, visiting from Florida, purchased all of her pieces.

While you can sell your unwanted gold jewelry outright, did you ever consider taking it all to a jeweler who could create something new from it or take parts of several pieces and design something unique for you? Any left over pieces or parts could help defray the expense of creating a custom piece for you. I've posted under Jewelry Forum earlier of several unique items my jeweler and I designed: ankle bracelet from a ring and bracelet; band around a pink topaz heart stone---pendant; and, bracelet for a large- faced watch.

I have several 14KT pieces that I never wear, but I'm waiting for gold prices to go up, and then I'll use USGoldbuyers.

I sold my gold 4 years ago and put that money toward something that means a lot to me. No regrets.

I saved the more important pieces and still wear them.

Yes, I took just a handful of things I no longer wore or were broken in some way and got $1,050! I could not believe it. I included my high school class ring and had second thoughts about that but until I read this post never thought about it again. I have no regrets! Used the money to make the last couple of payments on my car!

2 questions...

my dd did study abroad and i found a handful of foreign coins, could i take those to a gold/silver buyers place?

where would i go to sell a diamond ring? i don't want to remove diamonds.

The coins I'd take to a coin dealer but truthfully, unless they are extremely old, they probably are not worth much.

As for a diamond ring, unless the diamond is large or there is a substantial amount of gold or platinum in the setting, resell on diamond rings is not great. Sometimes you are better selling it to a local jeweler on a contingency basis.

Re: Is it worth it to turn in your jewelery you don't want anymore?

the coins aren't old, she just brought them home and i'd have to go to a downtown bank, for any kind of redemption. not worth it, in the long run.

the ring is nice but not mega rocks. i didn't think of jewelery contingency. i'll look in to that.

thanks.
