Is it okay for an obituary to portray a murderer as a decent person?

Kevin James Collier, in an apparent rage over a petition filed by his ex-wife which outlined full custody of their infant daughter Rhilee and spousal support, went on a violent rampage and shot Rhilee at point blank range killing her. He threw the little girl's lifeless body into the bed of his pickup truck. He then shot and killed his mother in law at her home and set the house on fire. When law enforcement arrived he began shooting at them, wounding an officer in the neck. Collier took his own life with a single shot to the head. His remains were found in the ashes of the destroyed home.

Collier's obituary in the Ramona Sentinel has sparked outrage for this small community and is a painful read for his ex-wife and her family. Collier is said to have been an animal lover and a farmer at heart. But what is particularly egregious is the following:

On June 22, 2010, the love of his life was born, his daughter, Rhilee Jean Collier, who he affectionately referred to as "Princess". They could be seen many a Saturday for breakfast at Ramona Cafe. He cherished his little girl who also passed away August 21, 2011, and is forever in his heart.

There is also a photograph of him holding his daughter. Considering he murdered his own baby girl, is it appropriate that the obituary (which was written by Bonham Mortuary) make mention of his daughter in such a manner? I feel as if it's spitting on her grave {#emotions_dlg.sad}
