Is it a wise decision to take my mother with painful knee problems to Santa Fe?

My sister mentioned that we take a long weekend trip for a big birthday that is coming up for me. We've never done this before. I was thinking about my sister, mother, husband and I going to Santa Fe. Sometimes my mother sleeps a lot, she always gets a late start, and sometimes her knee bothers her and walking is a problem. She is only 76. She would love to go, but I don't want her to be in pain the entire time, not be able to do anything, and be stuck in the hotel with her.
