My DH is legally blind withOUT his glasses. He went to ask about laser to get rid of his glasses (because he needs new glasses yearly and has to pay to have them contoured so they are not as thick).
Well he was refused laser surgery, and told it will not work, and that he has Fuchs Dystrophy which is a hereditary disease of the cornea. (his parents claim they dont have this but his sister does).
He was also told later in life as in when hes a senior citizen he "may" need a cornea transplant. Of course me the worry wort is worried about him. So much so that I wondered if I can give him my corneas if I were to die before him because I dont want him to be blind. (but I dont know how that would work?).
I have seen his eye sight go downhill since I am with him. For instance he cant see the stop signs while driving with his glasses ON, until he is close to the sign. (maybe less than half block away?) That is just one example of many.
He continues to work and function and he never worries, but it concerns me for the "future". I did read about it online but I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this or has it? Thank you.
