My mother got a letter today regarding the Anthem Inc. Data Breach Litigation Settlement Credit Monitoring. Enclosed is an activation code representing your Credit Monitoring Settlement Award, which you have til November 20, 2019 to activate your code with Experian. You can go to their website or call customer service for assistance. If you have question about it there is a different number to call. I'm very suspicious of everything, I'm wondering if this is a scam or not ( I do remember Experian did have a breach). Has anyone else received this letter?

I have not received a letter and am like you, I would be suspicious. So much theft and fraud going on nowadays.

I found this on line by googling your question.

When it was first found out we got postcards in the mail regarding the breach and I know I filed for or joined the class action suit on line.
We actually got our checks yesterday. It had been so long ago that I did this I had actually forgotten all about it.
We received 2 $50 checks because we had our own identity theft protection in place and didn't need their free offering.

@RoughDraft, thanks for this, I still don't know what to do. I can't imagine my mother would get much money in a settlement, I'm wondering if I should bother?

@Jordan2 - it's too late for your Mom to receive a check from them, the case has been settled and checks sent.
She probably got the post card with the code to enable her to get the free credit monitoring for a year.

Love to know where my check is. I was part of that breach. ![]()

This was a letter, not a post card.I think I may just ignore it. I don't know whether she signed up for a refund or not.

Yes, it's legit.
I received the letter yesterday and did some research on the Anthem Data Breach and found this udate, which seems to indicate that since there are still funds available from the settlement, they are extending the credit monitoring:
CASE UPDATE—SETTLEMENT MODIFIED TO FURTHER EXTEND CREDIT MONITORING
The Settlement Agreement has now been modified so that after the Settlement Fund pays for four years of Credit Monitoring and all of the other claims, costs, and fees described in the Settlement Agreement, any Settlement Funds remaining will be used:
